Varsity Football Team Faced Fierce Battle

Updated on 09/14/2023 | Will Owens

The Eagles took on Spartanburg Christian this past Friday in a high scoring contest. Unfortunately the Eagles came out on the losing end of a 79-40 game, but the young team is showing resilience and promise; especially offensively. While the Eagles first few drives came up empty, they were able to turn it on for the rest of the game, putting up 463 yards of total offense. Haden Burris threw for 366 yards and 4 TD's while rushing for 55 yards and a combined total of 421 all purpose yards. Peyton Shaw caught 13 passes for 281 yards and 3 TD's including a 50 yard TD reception. While the defense is young and still has a lot of growing to do, they were lead by Peyton Shaw who had 8 tackles, followed closely by Josh Howard and William Hollifield who had 7 tackles each.

The Eagles take on Academic Magnet this Friday night at Ravenel Stadium in West Ashley.

Varsity Football Team Faces Tough Opponent

Updated on 09/14/2023 | Will Owens

The PCA football team took on an extremely tough opponent in Williamsburg Academy on Friday. While they were defeated 52-6, the goal of each game and this season is to show improvement and the Eagles did that. Last year, the Eagles were unable to cross the 50 yard line against Williamsburg. This year, they crossed the 50 yard line multiple times, got in the end zone for a TD and had another opportunity to score inside the 20 and were unable to push it through for another score. This young Eagles team is making strides in the right direction and will continue to improve throughout the season! This Friday, the Eagles take on Military Magnet at CCSD District 4 Stadium. Come out and support your PCA Fighting Eagles for their 7:30 pm kickoff!

God bless and Go Eagles!

Varsity Football Team Excited About Improvements

Updated on 09/14/2023 | Will Owens

The PCA Varsity Football team travelled down to Savannah, Georgia to open up the season against Memorial Day School. While the Eagles were not able to come out on top, they were able to make some steps in the right direction. Offensively, the Eagles were able to move the football and made it into the endzone twice with a final score of 61-16. Defensively, the young Eagles football team needs to tackle better but they pressured the backfield all night! The Eagles have lots of growing to do but as a young team with 20 out of 29 players being Sophomores or Freshmen, the future is bright! There has been steady improvement since camp and there is no doubt more improvement is on the way.

The Eagles return home this week to take on the defending state champion Williamsburg Academy, which will undoubtedly be a stout test. Come out to Park West field this Friday night to cheer on the team. Kickoff is 7:30 pm!

Varsity Football Team Welcomes Friday Night Lights!

Updated on 09/14/2023 | Will Owens

This past Friday the PCA Football team got their first taste of Friday Night Lights as they participated in Founders Federal Credit Union Jamboree at Cardinal Newman High School. It was a great opportunity to go out and get some real game time experience before the season officially starts this Friday. The Eagles played hard all night and played especially well on defense, with 2 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and a multitude of sacks and tackles for loss. A lot of young guys got crucial playing experience in the game and that will, no doubt, pay huge dividends this season!

The season officially kicks off this Friday night as the Eagles travel to Savannah to play Memorial Day at 7:30 pm.

God bless and Go Eagles!
