Cross Country Team Is On The Move

The Cross Country teams travelled to Columbia on Saturday for the Highlander Invitational held at Heathwood Hall. In the first race of the day, Sara Belle Boyles set a new Season Best mark of 22:24, finishing 71st out of 180 runners. Greta Anderson also turned in her best effort of the year, knocking almost 34 seconds off her previous fastest time. 

 

In the boys race, Will Terry ran a time of 19:10 to lead the boys with an 86th place finish out of 247 runners. Heyward Neely (19:15), Alex Avinger (21:03), and Jack Semeraro (21:58) all set new personal records while Joseph Terry set a new season best mark with a time of 20:30 for the 5k course. 

 

The Eagles will be in action again this Saturday as they travel to Pawley's Island for the Warrior Invitational.

Cross Country Team Running Well

PCA had 4 boys participate in the Pinewood Invitational on Saturday. Although the SAT and some injuries kept some of their teammates from participating, 4 Eagles runners turned in a good effort in the heat on Saturday morning. Heyward Neely led the way for the Eagles with a time of 21:34 for the 5k course. Joseph Terry was only 4 spots behind with a time of 21:45. Trey Wilson (21:52) and Alex Avinger (22:06) finished close behind to give PCA a good grouping of 4 runners in 12 places. The PCA runners will be in action again on Tuesday, August 29 when they travel to Lexington for the Pelican's Invitational.

Season Underway For PCA Cross Country Teams

The PCA Cross Country teams started their season at the Hammond Skyhawk Invitational in Columbia on Saturday. Sara Belle Boyles led the PCA girls, placing 80th out of 187 and running a time of 24:37.50. For the boys, Hans Payne led the charge finishing 23rd out of 260 with a time of 17:41.90. Fellow Eagles, Heyward Neely, Alex Avinger, Trey Wilson, and Joseph Terry filled out the scoring with Jack Semeraro and Miles Johnson helping the team standings as well. 

 

Of note, Alex Avinger set a new Personal Record by 1:35, Trey Wilson finished 2:39 ahead of last year's time at the same course, and Heyward Neely bettered his time on the Hammond course by 1:37 over last year. The Eagles will compete next at the Pinewood Invitational this coming Saturday.
