PCA Track & Field Athlete Sets New School Record!

Congratulations to eighth grader Alex Corley! Alex set a new Personal Best and a PCA School Record in the Javelin on Saturday at The Wood Invitational at Woodland High School. His throw of 139' 1" was an improvement of 20' 8" on the previous record. Great job Alex!

Track Team Makes Impressive Showing

The PCA Track team competed at Porter Gaud on Wednesday. Though heavy rains forced the meet to be cancelled with 2 events remaining, the Eagles set 9 new personal records. In addition, Evelyn Mercer (1600, 3200), Jordy Romine (100h), Luke Smith (1600), Sam Smith (Pole Vault), Gavin Wease (Pole Vault), and Alex Corley (Javelin) met the qualifying marks for the State Meet. There were also 17 Regional Meet qualifying marks met.  

 

Top 3 finishers in an event were Evelyn Mercer (2nd in the 1600 and 3200), Josie Hurley (3rd in 800), Alex Corley (1st in Javelin), Sam Smith (1st in Pole Vault), Gavin Wease (2nd in Pole Vault), Luke Smith (2nd in 1600, 3rd in 800), and Grayson Wease (2nd in 400 hurdles, 3rd in 110 hurdles).

 

The full team will travel to Orangeburg Prep for a meet this Wednesday with selected performers also going to the Heathwood Hall Highlander Invitational this Saturday.
