Volleyball Closing Out Strong

The varsity volleyball team had two region matches last week. Their match versus Porter Gaud was a tough 1-3 loss away. Cokey Suddeth led with 11 kills and had 3 blocks. Reed Jones led with a hitting percentage of 0.500, had 3 aces and had a 100% serving percentage. Adelaide Suddeth led with 13 digs and both Coco Kucaba and Chloe Guyan had 100% serving. 


Varsity then played First Baptist away on Tuesday and had a 3-0 win. Coco Kucaba led with 13 digs. Cokey Suddeth had 5 aces, 14 kills, and tied with blocks with Adelaide Suddeth, each with 3. Adelaide Suddeth had a serve receive rating of .233. Reed Jones, Alyssa Carper and Adelaide Suddeth each had 100% serving percentage. Bria Olson led with a hitting % 0.333. 


This week both Varsity and JV play their last two region matches away. Tuesday versus Northwood Academy; JV at 5 and Varsity at 6. And then they play Ashley Hall on Wednesday, JV at 5 and Varsity at 6. The varsity team will head to the state playoffs on Friday morning and play Friday and Saturday in Myrtle Beach. The playoffs are a double elimination tournament. If they are one of the top two teams at the end of Saturday's  play, they will compete in the state championship either Oct 21/22 in a neutral location, best 3 out of 5.


I’m super proud of the girls this season. After this week’s play we have a chance at being tied for first place in our region and the JV team will be undefeated and win the region as well.

Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night

The Varsity volleyball team had a great week. We played Pinewood Prep and won in 3 sets on Tuesday.  Cokey Suddeth had 10 digs, 4 aces, and 100% serving. Chloe Guyan, Saylor Sorenson, Alyssa Carper each led with 100% serving. Coco Kucaba had 8 digs, 4 aces, 12 kills and led the team with 0.348 hitting percentage. Adelaide Suddeth, Bria Olson, and Hannah Delaney each had a serve receive rating of 2.0 And Adelaide Suddeth also led with 4 aces.

 

On Thursday we had Senior Night, our final home match that celebrated our four seniors; Ava Bowen, Bria Olson, Cokey Suddeth, and Hannah Delaney. We beat Northwood Academy in 3 sets. Cokey Suddeth led with 13 kills, 8 digs, 2 aces, and a serve receive rating of 2.0. Alyssa Carper, Chloe Guyan, Coco Kucab each had 100% serving. Coco Kucaba led the team with blocks and a hitting % of 0.538. Adelaide Suddeth had 8 kills, Coco Kucaba had 6 kills, and Ava Bowen had 4 kills. Hannah Delaney had 4 aces and 4 digs. Bria Olson led the team with 3.0 serve receive rating and had 2 blocks. 

 

We have two away matches this week. They play at Porter Gaud on Monday at 6:30 and at First Baptist on Tuesday at 6pm. Come out to support our girls this week, both matches are local and are important region matches. 

Volleyball at the Baron Bash

The varsity volleyball team had a great week of volleyball. They beat pinewood prep in 3 sets. Cokey Suddeth lead with 11 digs, 13 kills,  and 100 % serving percentage, and .400 hitting percentage. Adelaide Suddeth had 7 kills ,4 aces. and a serve receive rating of 3.0. Coco Kucaba also had 4 aces , and a serve receive rating .231. Coco Kucaba, Hannah Delaney, Chloe Guyan, Alyssa Carper, and Adelaide Suddeth each had a 100% servings percentage. Banks jenkins lead with assists, had 5 digs, and 3 aces.

 

The lady eagles then had a tournament at Wilson Hall on Saturday. The team played well and finished first in the silver bracket. They finished 7-3 and had two players make the All- tournament team. Congrats to Cokey Suddeth and Banks Jenkins for being nominated all-tournament by the other coaches from the teams we competed against. 

 

The Eagles have two home games this week. Tuesday versus Pinewood Prep at 6pm and Thursday is senior night where we will celebrate Ava Bowen, Bria Olson, Cokey Suddeth, and Hannah Delaney. Thursdays game is versus Northwood Academy at 6pm. We will celebrate the seniors after the JV game and before the varsity game begins. Come out to support! GO Eagles!



 

VB def Berkeley and Porter Gaud

The varsity volleyball team had a great week with a 3-0 win over Berkeley and a 3-1 win over Porter Gaud. They also hosted the 3rd annual Eagle Invitational and finished third in the gold bracket. Congratulations to Cokey Suddeth and Coco Kucaba for being named to the All-Tournament team.

 

Important stats to note in our match versus Berkeley:

  • Banks Jenkins led with assists and Chloe Guyan led the team with 100% serving percentage and a 2.20 serve receive rating. Cokey Suddeth had 11 digs and 22 kills. Ava Bowen led with 5 aces and a hitting percentage of .857. Adelaide Suddeth had 17 kills.

Important stats to note in our match versus Porter Gaud:

  • The win versus Porter Gaud, Adelaide Suddeth had a serve receive rating of 2.14. Chloe Guyan and Coco Kucaba had a 100% serving percentage. Cokey Suddeth had 16 kills, 22 digs and 4 blocks. Coco Kucaba had a hitting percentage of .345 and Banks Jenkins led the team with 2 aces.

 

We have a home region match on Tuesday versus First Baptist. The theme is PAJAMA PARTY!!! Come out and support, JV at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:00.

Varsity Volleyball Competes at Porter Gaud Tournament

The Varsity volleyball team competed in their first of 4 tournaments this season at Porter Gaud this past weekend.  They played great competition all weekend. First was Lucy Beckham with a 1-2 loss, Next up was Bishop England, James Island, Ashely Hall, St. Joseph and Hilton Head High School. The girls did not win their bracket but fought every point and went three sets for every match except a 0-2 loss to BE and a 2-0 win over St. Joseph. 

 

Cokey Suddeth led the team with 50 kills for the tournament and had 13 aces. Coco Kucaba was second in kills with 31. Adelaide Suddeth had a hitting percentage of .300 for the weekend and Chloe Guyan had a serving percentage of 100 %. Chloe Guyan also led the team in digs with 30.

 

The Lady Eagles play two home matches this week. Today at 5 and at 6pm. And they play their first region match at home on Thursday at 6pm. versus Ashely Hall. Come out to support.

PCA Volleyball Off to a Great Start

The varsity volleyball team has started off strong this season with a 3-2 win over Cane Bay, a 2-1 loss against Ashley Ridge, a 3-0 win over Hammond High School and a 3-0 win against Cathedral Academy. The eagles are ranked 32 in the state. The lady Eagles play in the Porter Gaud Volleyball Invitational this weekend Friday and Saturday, come out and support. 

 

In the Cane Bay match Cokey Suddeth led the team with 21 kills, Bria Olson had the best hitting %, Chloe Guyan had 24 digs, and Adelaide Suddeth had the best serve receive rating and led the team with 9 aces.

 

The match against Cathedral Academy, Coco Kucaba led with 8 kills and a serve receive rating of 3.0 % and the best hitting percentage of 0.533. Hannah Delaney led with 6 aces, and Chloe Guyan had 10 digs. And finally in our match versus Hammond High School, Cokey Suddeth led the team with aces, the best hitting percentage and 9 kills. Banks Jenkins led 8 digs, and Coco Kucaba had the best serve receive percentage of 3.0%. 

 

Thank you for all that came out to support our JV and Varsity when we played Ashley Ridge and for those that supported our JV team this weekend at the Iron Horse Invitational.
